The summer of 09 was an active time for Jacksonville artificial reef projects. The video below is a 5 minute summation piece of the recent projects; a retired Coast Guard tender, “Spike,” and 700 tons of concrete.

7 miles offshore the St Augustine inlet in 65 feet of water. We dived and others fished the live bottom area as we waited for the barge to arrive with the pillings for the artificial reef deployment.

The video below is of an artificial reef site off NE Florida. It is known as the Coppage Tug and it was placed offshore in 1989 in in 80ft of water. This dive was on 6-5-10. See this post for the details.


TISIRI’s Joe Kistel attended the sinking of the Big Al off the Coast of Stuart Fl (2-24-10). Joe installed a “sink-cam” near the rear of the vessel. Thanks, Kerry Dillon, for allowing us to participate. See the video below.


The “Red Sea” was placed off the Coast of Panama City Florida in June 2009. The 5 minute video below shows her last moments afloat and her first moments at rest.
