History

The Spike is a 70 foot long vessel that served as a Coast Guard tender from the early 1960′s through the early 1980′s. In the 80′s she was acquired by the Safe Harbor Maritime Academy where she was utilized as a dormitory and educational tool. In the summer of 2009 the Spike was prepared for reefing and placed offshore in early July. Watch the video above to see the story.
